Born in Bolt, West Virginia, Little Jimmy Dickens recorded for Columbia, Decca and United Artists Records. His singles include "Country Boy" (1949), "Hillbilly Fever" (1950), "They Locked God Outside the Iron Curtain" (1952), "Out Behind the Barn" (1954), "Big Sandy" (1956), "Hannah" (1959), "The Violet and the Rose" (1962), "May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose" (1965, #1), "Country Music Lover" (1967), "When You're Seventeen" (1969), "Try It, You'll Like It" (1972), et al. Dickens became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1948 and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville in 1983.
