Alfred A. Knopf, under its Borzoi imprint, published The War Lover by John Hersey in 1959. It is clearly marked "First Edition." The book's dust jacket carries the original price of $5 and the legend A Book-of-the-Month-Club Selection.
In colorful dust jacket designed by Guy Fleming. Dust jacket is complete and in very good condition with no rips or tears. It does show some wear at the edges and some browning. The actual book is in excellent condition with no defects such as writing, defacing, etc.
This is John Hersey's classic World War II novel, the basis for the 1962 movie of the same name starring Steve McQueen as Buzz Rickson.
This is a nice solid first edition for the discerning book collector.
